Why Human Design?
Full disclosure: I’m a nerd.
I don’t mean just your everyday, run-of-the-mill know-it-all, I mean a NERD. I grew up a girl who loved math, science, nature, how things worked. I once took apart our only toaster just to see if I could put it back together again. I once dissected a chipmunk with two sticks (to be fair, it was already dead, thanks to my darling outside cat who loved to bring me “treats”). But I was immensely curious as a child about all things, and would ask a million questions and engage in deep conversations with adults about a whole host of topics - at three years old. I was the youngest in my class of 100 kids all throughout grade school, and in the gifted program. When the school wanted me to skip a grade, my parents (and rightly so) kept me where I was, because I was already emotionally immature and naive in comparison to the rest of my class and having me skip a grade would only make those differences all the more obvious.
I don’t tell you this to brag; in fact, if it’s helpful, I also ended up failing out of college. Life happens. Spirituality is a wild and winding road!
I tell you this so that you can understand the depth of my curiosity in any of these Spiritual systems, as identifying their patterns and holding them up against the Scientific Method to prove them wrong is also part of the game. I’ve long believed that you can simultaneously believe in biology and chemistry and physics and also understand that there are aspects of the Universe that our puny minds simply cannot yet fathom the complexities of. Mind you, we try! And it’s in the trying that is the most telling of the underlying truth of why I believe Human Design is scientific, despite its origin story. It’s not a belief - it’s an experiment.
Human Design was “discovered” by a man named Alan Robert Krakower, who later became known as Ra Uru Hu, in 1987. The way the story goes, Ra was hit with “The Voice” - not a meditation, mind you, just a typical “Message from Beyond” that kept him awake and on a Vision Quest for 8 straight days until he could write down the full decode of that Voice. What came out was a synthesis of four ancient traditions: Astrology, Kabbalah, I-Ching, and the Hindu Chakra system. Now, this is typically known as Traditional Human Design in many internet searches, and Ra was known for saying that what he decoded was still “incomplete”. There are a few hybrid approaches, but the most famous and well-known hybrid approach is that of Dr. Karen Curry Parker’s, where she has expanded to include positive Psychology, Quantum Physics, and somatic healing techniques. My training is from under her tutelage in Quantum Human Design.

When I went searching for what my Life Curriculum and Soul Purpose was, I cast a pretty wide net. I had my Astrology Chart, an Akashic Reading, numerous Tarot adventures (both self-inflicted readings and those only found in seedy two-person shops along the Atlantic City boardwalk). I already had well-tread knowledge of The Magic of the Universe and how infinite possibilities lay in front of any of us, but what I lacked was the inner map of myself and how I fit within that Universe. So, I dove deep into the psyche, tracing my own path through my Dark Night of the Soul while simultaneously pressure-testing the actual scientific articles of Consciousness as a dimensional field. What I found was astonishing.
I went down Alice’s rabbit hole.
I didn’t just find historical and religious contexts of mysticism or 100-year old antiquated philosophies. I found a treasure trove of actual models, peer-reviewed research, and interwoven theories that all inter-relate the cosmos of consciousness to Quantum Physics, Geometry, Molecular Biology and Astronomy. I found the actual breaking point of Astrology away from modern science, thrown out for being too “woo-woo”, and yet the characterizations of the planets, astrological signs, and how this all inter-relates to how energy physically moves inside of the human body in correlation to how the planetary bodies of the solar system moves and affects us every day. I found what felt was the best kept secret of humanity, correlated and conjugated from four, seemingly disparate mystical divination philosophies from four different source religions all tied together as one in such a logical way that my puny brain was instantly attracted to the simplicity and the complexity.
Human Design is the greatest experiment for seeking the truth of physical explanations for our shared lived experiences vis a vie a quantum field of collective consciousness, making humans the ultimate vessels for creativity, divine inspiration, and manifestation of our highest potentials.
